Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Your thoughts are yours. We don't read them, sell them, or use them for advertising. The Glade stores your data locally on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted end-to-end so only you can access it.

1. Data We Collect

Data You Provide

  • Account credentials: Email address and encrypted password if you create an account for cloud sync
  • Your content: Thoughts, focuses, notes, and mood entries you create within the app
  • Preferences: Theme choice, notification settings, widget configurations

Data Collected Automatically

  • Device information: Device model, operating system version, app version (for compatibility and debugging)
  • Crash reports: Anonymous crash logs to help us fix bugs (does not include your content)
  • Feature usage: Which features you use and how often (aggregated, not tied to your identity or content)

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Location data
  • Contacts or address book
  • Photos or camera access
  • Browsing history
  • Data from other apps on your device

2. How Your Data Is Stored

Local Storage (Default)

By default, all your thoughts and data remain on your device. Nothing leaves your phone unless you explicitly enable cloud sync. If you uninstall the app without backup, this data is permanently deleted.

Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable cloud sync, your data is encrypted on your device before transmission using AES-256 encryption. The encryption key is derived from your password and never leaves your device. We cannot read your content even if we wanted to.

3. How We Use Data

  • To provide the core functionality of The Glade
  • To sync your data across your devices when you enable this feature
  • To fix bugs and improve app stability using anonymous crash reports
  • To understand which features are valuable so we can improve the app
  • To send you important service announcements (you can opt out)
  • To respond to your support requests

4. Third-Party Services

We use a minimal set of third-party services:

  • RevenueCat: Manages subscriptions. Receives purchase data from Apple/Google but not your content.
  • Firebase Crashlytics: Collects anonymous crash reports. No personal data or content is included.
  • Apple/Google Cloud: If you use cloud sync, encrypted data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure.

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics platforms that track individuals, or data brokers.

5. Data Retention

Your content: Kept until you delete it or delete your account

Account information: Retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of account deletion

Crash reports: Automatically deleted after 90 days

Analytics data: Aggregated data kept for product improvement; no individual user data retained beyond 12 months

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your data (use the Export feature in Settings)
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information in your account
  • Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data
  • Portability: Export your data in a standard format
  • Opt-out: Disable analytics collection in app settings

7. Children's Privacy

The Glade is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International Data Transfers

If you use cloud sync, your encrypted data may be processed on servers located outside your country. Regardless of location, we apply the same privacy protections described in this policy. Your content remains encrypted and inaccessible to us or server operators.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. For significant changes, we'll provide notice through the app or via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
